One of my favorite DJ's, that I have the pleasure of knowing personally, is DJ Akshen! 🙌🏽 He's renown for his distinctive turntable skills, and is one of Arizona’s premier talents. His creative mixing and crowd-pleasing selection is one of the
reasons why he was crowned Phoenix Regional Red Bull 3Style Champion in 2015. Akshen went on to represent the South West and compete for the National title. As an artistic influencer he’s shared the stage with Lord Finesse, Break Beat Lou, The Egyptian Lover, DJ Qbert, The X-excutioners, and Z-Trip. Globally he is a special guest DJ for Disney Cruise Lines.
When Akshen is not behind the turntables you can find him hosting Fader Manners, an open turntable monthly event he co-founded. Fader Manners works in collaboration with Trill Hip Hop Shop in Phoenix, AZ to host events for aspiring DJ's for FREE! It's a very good educational opportunity to learn from the professionals. I was fortunate enough to go to one of these events in Phoenix, AZ to try it out. At the time, DJ Akshen, DJ JFB, DJ Les735 and many other DJ's were there and gave me a quick DJ lesson. Being my first time trying this, I sound terrible but the support was AMAZING!! 😄So if I can try something new, you can too! 😉 I definitely recommend aspiring DJ's and turntablists to come to Fader Manners events at Trill PHX. You'll learn a lot and they're a really cool gang of people. They post updates on their website frequently for the next open turntable scratch sessions.
Akshen has had the privilege of judging, hosting, competing and organizing countless DJ battles in AZ. He has shared his knowledge of DJing with organizations like the YMCA, numerous after school programs, Scottsdale Community College, Arizona State University, Mesa Community College, and Grand Canyon Universities Hip-Hop Club.
Some of his clients include Red Bull, UnidosUS formerly known as the National Council of La Raza, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Microsoft and Dish to name a few.
