Music Collaboration with Karma!

For those of you curious on how to collaborate with me (Karma) on a musical project, please read below for more information on how I do collaborations.


  1. I keep musical collaborations limited to me and one other person per song. I collaborate as a pair (Me and ONLY You!). This keeps things simple and less complicated in the event royalties need to be collected and distributed.


  2. Royalties for Performing Arts (PA) and Sound Recording (SR) masters are split 50/50. When registering for copyright, this is the ownership split as well. I always copyright my music with the USA government copyright.gov and I copyright collaborations with these details crediting you for the other 50%.


  3. I don't distribute my collaborations on digital service providers (DSPs) like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Pandora, Deezer, Amazon Music, etc.


  4. There are 4 platforms I consent to for promotion:

    1. Bandcamp

    2. Soundcloud

    3. Your own personal website

    4. YouTube (a personal video you upload yourself NOT YouTube music distribution).

      *I do this to avoid copyright strikes for both of our YouTube pages. Please DO NOT distribute our collaborative music on any DSPs. If you do I will file a DMCA takedown notice.


  5. Collaborations will be complete within 6 months. Considering this is something I do for fun and for free, I need time to finish working on a song (As I am sure you do too) while balancing life. There are times I can complete a song in a week and there are times it takes me the full 6 months. It depends on what we're doing. I will always be communicating with you throughout the duration of the project.



To begin, choose one of the Collaboration styles below:

  1. You can send an original sample to me and I finish the song.

  2. I send an original sample to you and you finish the song.

  3. We share ideas, back and forth, and contribute equally to make a song until it's finished. Hiring musicians is alright but only as a work-for-hire for our song.
